Transport Frame Modifications for Stator

Location: On-site, near the Port of Brisbane

Application: Safe transport of a generator stator

Scope: On-site welding and structural modifications

Boilermaker carrying out on-site welding to a transport frame for a generator stator

Project Details

DWW Engineering was engaged to modify a transport frame for a generator stator, the stationary core of the machine, to enable safe transport through to its final destination at Kogan Creek Power Station.

A supervising engineer determined the existing transport frame was not sufficient for the transport requirements. DWW Engineering fabricated and welded additional beams to strengthen the transport frame and improve overall support during handling and movement.

Works were carried out on-site near the Port of Brisbane using mobile welding equipment. The team completed the modifications over four days, with two DWW Engineering boilermakers on site to deliver the welding and structural additions to specification.

Highlights

  • Transport frame strengthened for stator dispatch to Kogan Creek Power Station.
  • Additional beams fabricated and welded to improve structural support.
  • Onsite welding completed near the Port of Brisbane using mobile welders.
