Since 2019, we’ve worked with Evolution Mining to manufacture mining grizzlies for Ernest Henry Mine, producing 17 units to date. From the outset, the Australian-based global mining giant sought more than a supplier; they needed a partner to provide complete, ready-to-assemble solutions.
And DWW Engineering delivered.
Simplifying the Complex
When Evolution Mining approached us, they faced a recurring issue: their previous supplier didn’t include fasteners – a crucial component required to assemble the units on the mining site. This resulted in delays and complications in sourcing the right components on-site.
DWW Engineering resolved this by providing each grizzly as a full kit, including fasteners. This streamlined assembly and allowed Evolution to focus on operations without avoidable delays.
Precision and Reliability
Every mining grizzly we manufacture is trial-assembled in our warehouse. This step eliminates the risk of errors, which are challenging to resolve in the underground mining environment. By prioritising precision and quality, we provide the client with confidence that the units will perform reliably in demanding conditions.

Engineering Challenges and Innovation
Projects for the mining sector often present unique challenges. For example, the rails in the mining grizzly structure—reclaimed from disused railway lines—are critical for protecting the concrete foundation from loader wear. As these rails became harder to source, we redesigned the structure to accommodate a smaller, readily available rail.
The solution wasn’t simple. The new rails and substructure needed to support the weight of a specialised cement truck required to pour concrete around the grizzly. DWW updated the design to meet these requirements while maintaining durability and performance.
